Job Opportunity – Systems Integration Engineer - International

Military, Government, Security Wanted (Central, NJ) 

The following position, located in central New Jersey, is with a System Integrator providing end-to-end, turnkey solutions for the Defense and Homeland Security markets. Their complete security installations include Sensors, Standalone Radar Systems, Emergency Response Systems, Command & Control, Communications, Access Control and Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD). 

General Summary:

Provide senior level technical leadership in a hands-on environment. Provide systems integration and field engineering support in a Homeland Security Work Environment. 

Position Requirements: 

The integration process involves in assembly different subsystems (i.e. hardware, communication and software) into one operational system. The integration process takes place in a lab(s) that aim to mimic the live operational field configuration as close as possible in order to verify system functionality meets defined requirements in the live environment. This individual will also provide technical leadership as the system is deployed. Travel is required up to 50% - domestic and international – to support these deployments. 

Major Responsibilities and Tasks: 

The Systems Integration team is responsible for the integration process. System Integration team is the owner of the lab. The Systems Integration team responsibilities are as follows: 

  • Lead the integration effort in order to setup operational system

  •  

  • Planning the systems integration process and verifying its execution according to plan. The system integrator should urge parties to perform their tasks to meet required timetable and quality.

  •  

  • Reporting to the Project/Program Manager upon integration plan execution and status. Should a more detailed status is required, the system integrator can ask different parties to provide their status.

  •  

  • e.g.-during system network setup, the system integrator should know the tasks taken place and their status. The system integrator can ask the system engineering lader to provide a more in depth explanation.

  •  

  • Control over the lab configuration – each effort/work involving the lab configuration should be approved by the Lead System Integrator. The Lead Integrator can grant a specific party to perform a set of changes without knowing all the details (e.g. servers’ installation without knowing each cable being plugged and OS being installed, rather than the required outcome).

  •  

  • Mostly, system integrator resides in the lab and assures integration process advances.

Accountabilities:  (Key roles and responsibilities for this position.)

Job specifications:

In order to fulfill his/her responsibilities, the System Integration Engineer should hold the following qualifications: 

  • Overall understanding of the system architecture, design and functionality. The Integrator is familiar with all parts of the system, but does not necessarily need to be an expert of all fields.

  • Ability to pinpoint upon a problem source once needed in order to direct parties to overcome it. Since integration effort involves in bugs that can be related to different parties and deliverable, it is up to the system integrator to pinpoint the cause.

  • Technical leadership capabilities. Previous experience managing teams.

  • The system integrator serves as the project/program point of contact for the integration process.

 Knowledge:                 

  • BS required, MS desired 

  • IEEE 829, ISO 9001 desired

Experience:

  •  Minimum 7 - 10 years experience with integration and test of large systems, required.

  •  Experience with DHS or DOD projects, highly desirable

 Skills/Aptitudes: 

            Experience with Integrated Product Teams desired

 Residency Requirements:

  • Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident

  • Must have valid Passport and be ready, willing and able to travel internationally.

Additional Job Information:

  • Security Clearance or SIDA highly desirable

Working Conditions:

Travel domestically and internationally to support customer activities will be required up to 50% of the time.
