Job Opportunity: Applications Engineer

Military, Government, Security Wanted (Central, NJ)

The following position, located in central NJ, is with a System Integrator providing end-to-end, turnkey solutions for the Defense and Homeland Security markets. Their complete security installations include Sensors, Standalone Radar Systems, Emergency Response Systems, Command & Control, Communications, Access Control and Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD). The company leverages decades of experience in defense and security through strategic partnerships with leading defense contractors and select vendors identified as leaders in their respective fields of expertise.

General Summary: The primary responsibility of this position is to manage the technical aspects of the business development and applications support process. The Application Engineer will manage a Systems Engineering lab and will be responsible in evaluating and recommending vendor technologies and products to integrate with the 4D solution. The engineer will be primarily focused on business development but will work closely with the Software and Systems engineers, Integration and Test engineers and Purchasing.

Position Requirements:

• Prepare proposals and technology documents

• Accompany and assist business development teams for bids and proposal meetings and discussions.

• Provide pre-sales technical support and guidance.

• Author white papers

• Prepare and present technology and systems integration concepts to Architects and Engineers (A&Es), prime contractors and end customers.

• Preparation and drafting skills of network diagrams, flow charts, block diagrams and integration concepts.

• Work in an engineering/R&D environment and be adaptable to constant change in technology and implementation approaches.

• Must be a team player and be able to work under pressure and hard deadlines.

• Develop demonstration programs, application examples, and simulation models. These are generally used as support for a sales call or to make clear a solution relative to an application support assignment.

• Work with vendors and technology partners to integrate their solutions with the core software application.

Job specifications:

Knowledge:

• BS in technical field required.  MSEE or equivalent experience desired.

Experience:

• 5+ years of experience in the field required.

• Experienced in complex system of systems design and integration.

• Extensive experience in Systems Engineering and COTS integration concepts and field deployment.

Skills/Aptitudes:

• Proficient in MS Office Suite including Visio, AutoCAD and other engineering software applications.

• Excellent written and verbal communications skills required, and experience writing proposals desired.

• Experience marketing software and providing pre-sales support ( homeland security market experience desired ).

• Broad knowledge of Security industry and surveillance-over-IP domains, sensor technology industry and engineering practices.

• Self starter.

• Ability to break down, communicate and apply complex technology concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.

Residency Requirements:

• Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident

• A valid US Passport is required

Additional Job Information:

• National / International travel may be required up to 50%

• Some weekend and evening hours required.

• Flexibility in working night and weekends - compensated time-off

• DoD/DHS experience a plus

• Security Clearance or SIDA desired
